More Than Just Diapers: Annual Event Brings Resources and Holiday Relief to Milwaukee Dads

Over 21,000 diapers and more than 500 toys collected and distributed. Dozens of local organizations on-hand providing resources. All with one goal in mind — helping children and families in Milwaukee thrive.
On December 12, 2025, Wellpoint Care Network hosted our 3rd annual Diapers for Dads distribution event.
“This event is all about taking away some of the barriers to be a successful father,” said Andrew Bonner, Community Partnerships and Volunteer Coordinator at Wellpoint Care Network. “Dads walk away with boxes of diapers, bags of toys, and a plethora of resources.”

As Wellpoint Care Network celebrates 175 years of service and impact, the organization set an ambitious goal for this year’s event: to distribute 17,500 diapers and provide 175 fathers with 100 diapers each.
“Thanks to so many of our wonderful partners and donors, we were able to exceed that goal,” said Reggie Newson, Wellpoint Care Network President & CEO. “It’s great to be able to support and empower fathers, especially around the holiday season.”
Joseph Hayes of Milwaukee agrees. With a five-year-old son and two-year-old daughter, he shared how much the event meant to his family.
“I was able to get gifts and other items for my kids. It can be hard this time of year, but I’m doing what I can. Growing up, we didn’t have much. So, it makes me feel good to know that resources like this are available.”

Dante Wilson of Milwaukee has four kids, including a seven-month-old daughter. He says “every little bit helps.”
“She goes through stuff so fast!” joked Wilson. “Diapers, wipes, formula — it all adds up.”
With his first child on the way, Christopher Gray of Milwaukee certainly appreciates the community support.
“It feels good knowing that we’re not alone. A lot of dads do need help. It’s great that the community could come together and help each other out like this.”
Nearly 200 families attended the 2025 event, leaving with essential supplies and meaningful connections to local resources.
“Just seeing the joy that this event brings to fathers because they’re able to give something to their kids, it’s a great thing,” added Bonner.

Wellpoint Care Network extends sincere thanks to the many partners who made Diapers for Dads possible, including: Walmart Supercenter #2462, Cousins Subs, Baird, Elmbrook Rotary, Johnson Financial Group, Lightburn, Athletico, River Run, St. Matthias, Blessed Savior, Wisconsin Dept of Corrections, Rock River H.O.G. Together, we can continue building a community where every child, every parent, and every family has the opportunity to thrive.
