Trauma Informed Care in Both Theory and Practice

Wellpoint Care Network has been at the forefront of the Trauma Informed Care (TIC) movement for 15 years. We’re proud of our many contributions to Trauma Informed Care practice and at the center of our approach are the Seven Essential Ingredients (7ei).

The 7ei are vital to understanding the sources and impacts of trauma. Within one framework, you will find an explanation of the realities of trauma – that it’s common and its impact is lasting – as well as the keys to overcoming related barriers.

If you work directly for kids, teens, adults and/or families, you can benefit from the tools, resources and best practices taught in our training and consulting program. Whether in the field or from within a school, we will help you get grounded in 7ei.

Learn From Someone With Experience

2023 marks 15 years that Wellpoint Care Network has been at the forefront of the Trauma Informed Care (TIC) movement. During that time, more than 75,000 people have learned about our approach and the Seven Essential Ingredients (7ei).

2023 is also the five-year anniversary of our work being featured in a “60 Minutes” episode with special correspondent Oprah Winfrey.

More than 750 individuals have taken our Train the Trainer course, ensuring that these cutting-edge concepts, activities, videos, and more are being shared with those who need it most.

Maria Andrade

Maria Andrade

Director of Administrative Services – Child & Family Well-being Program

I began my career at Wellpoint Care in 2009. The diversity of the work that I do ensures that no day is like any other. I get to lead a team who is focused on supporting the work of our mission – even if it’s not in their job description. Wellpoint Care has created an environment that allows me to thrive professionally while supporting my work-life balance in the various seasons of both my professional and personal life. We are allowed opportunity to be innovative and creative together in how we achieve goals while never losing sight of our mission. It’s encouraging to see the result of the organization listening to feedback by providing space for us to come together as an agency and have conversations around diversity, equity and inclusion, and then be a part of the work towards change.

I am a first-generation Puerto Rican, born in the United States and first in my family to have graduated college and continued to receive master’s degree. I’m bilingual and fully fluent in Spanish. I oversee the Mentoring Program and am a part many other diversity-related committees.
