We Put Trauma-informed Theory into Practice

Wellpoint Care Network has been at the forefront of the Trauma Informed Care (TIC) movement for more than 15 years. Weโ€™re proud of our trauma-informed history and our many contributions to the field, especially the Seven Essential Ingredients (7ei) framework that’s become the foundation of everything we do.

Our experienced and compassionate Trainers and Consultants are highly-trained experts in some of the world’s best trauma-informed practice models. They’ve contributed to TIC research, and have deep experience in child welfare, clinical, school-based and law-enforcement settings. This team knows the science of trauma, as well as how to put theories into action.

Trauma Informed Care is Better Care.

Something else that makes our TIC team tick? Empathy. With decades of combined experience in direct care and practice, we will help you recognize the far-reaching impact of trauma on a person’s development and equip you with practical tips and skills to help them overcome trauma-related related barriers.

We can also help you build the skills to connect more deeply with the people you serve by understanding how past experiences shape behavior. It begins with a simple shift in perspective: instead of asking โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with you?โ€ we learn to ask, โ€œWhat happened in your life, and how can I support you?โ€

Maria Andrade

Maria Andrade

Vice President of Child and Family Well-being

I began my career at Wellpoint Care in 2009. The diversity of the work that I do ensures that no day is like any other. I have the opportunity to lead teams who are focused on supporting the work of our mission โ€” because they understand that ultimately the work we do, whether internally or externally, impacts the families we are here to serve. Wellpoint Care has created an environment that allows me to thrive professionally, while supporting my work-life balance in the various seasons of both my professional and personal life. We are allowed opportunities to be innovative and creative together in how we achieve goals while never losing sight of our mission. Itโ€™s encouraging to see the result of the organization listening to feedback by providing space for us to come together as an agency and have conversations around diversity, equity and inclusion, and then be a part of the work towards change.

I am a first-generation Puerto Rican, born in the United States and first in my family to have graduated college and continued on to receive masterโ€™s degree. Iโ€™m bilingual and fully fluent in Spanish. I oversee the Mentoring Program and am a part many other diversity-related committees. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, reading, volunteering and being outside.
