Additional Support for Those Who Need it Most
Children who have been exposed to significant trauma often need additional support to address their specific needs and behaviors. These children may also have advanced medical needs, mental health diagnoses or cognitive delays or disorders that require training and supportive services that go beyond General Foster Care.
Wellpoint Care Network is proud to license all Levels of Treatment Foster Care across the entire state of Wisconsin to meet the unique needs of every single child.
Care for Every Level of Need
The physical, behavioral and emotional needs of children and teens in foster care can range from moderate to complex. All of our foster parents are trained in Trauma Informed Care practices to mitigate the effects of trauma so that children can heal and thrive.

Training in The Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Model®
Wellpoint Care Network adopted Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) several years ago because of its proven track record of success. It offers practical tools for parents, caregivers, teachers or anyone who works with children to help those in their care reach their highest potential.
The TBRI Model was developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross to address the effects of early adversity and relational trauma through three sets of principles: Empowering, Connecting and Correcting. Wellpoint Care Network requires all of our Treatment Foster Caregivers to train in the TBRI Model, and it is also made available (and highly encouraged) to all of our General Caregivers.
What is Trauma Informed Care?
For more than 15 years, Wellpoint Care Network has been at the forefront of Trauma Informed Care, a science-based approach that helps children overcome adverse experiences and thrive. This adversity may take many forms, such as physical or emotional abuse, neglect, drug or alcohol abuse, exposure to violence, mental illness, divorce or the incarceration of a parent.
We began adopting Trauma Informed Care practices in our child welfare services well over a decade ago, and they soon became an organizational philosophy infused across our entire continuum of care.
Today, our foster parents receive training, resources and other support based on what research has taught us about overcoming adversity and building resilience.
