Building Opportunity, Strengthening Community and Enriching Lives

By Reggie Newson | Posted on July 7, 2025

I’ve always said that community building is at the core of my ‘why.’ Stepping into my new role as President & CEO of Wellpoint Care Network, building opportunity, strengthening community and enriching lives were some of my top priorities.

I was drawn to Wellpoint Care’s Five Pillars of Stability framework, which describes what it takes for an individual to reach their fullest potential. These pillars have been shown to support individual and family stability and prevent or reduce the need for deep-end interventions. When we are strong in these areas, we are able to work on restoring connections to our families, friends and the broader community.

Education and Employment are just two of those five pillars, but both are vital in my priorities of building opportunity, strengthening community and enriching lives. When we talk about these core pillars, we think about schools, jobs and safe neighborhoods. A foundational piece of the puzzle that deserves conversation is early childcare.

High-quality early childcare is more than a convenience for working families, it’s a powerful tool for child development, school readiness and long-term success. It’s a critical support for parents and guardians to participate in the workforce knowing their children are safe, learning and growing.

That is why Wellpoint Care Network supports the need for early childcare access. It provides peace of mind. It means a safe and reliable place to ensure that a child is cared for while families pursue education, employment and training.

For employers, it means a more reliable workforce. And for communities, it means higher rates of employment, better long-term educational outcomes and lower rates of poverty and crime.

Join our mission and help us continue to build opportunity, strengthen community and enrich lives!
