Trauma Informed Care For Child Serving Organizations
The need for trauma-informed therapists, counselors, case managers and first responders has never been higher. But as a spike in demand takes its toll on caregivers, patient outcomes can suffer. To better distribute the responsibility, we need to rethink how Trauma Informed Care education can transform existing systems.
Wellpoint Care Network has decades of collective experience in trauma-informed case management, youth residential treatment, family preservation and mental health services. We’ve gained substantial direct practice experience by guiding children and families through their trauma-informed healing journeys, and have established a proven, nationally-renowned trauma-informed practice and culture.
Transforming Systems Through Trauma Informed Care

Our purpose is to help train other professionals so they can go out and help people overcome barriers. It may be the only way to prevent future adversity and related behaviors.

Trauma Informed Care Creates Transformation in Brown County
Tana Koss and Heather McGriff work for Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, a non-profit human services agency offering programs to support children, teens and adults during challenges and transitions in their lives. The duo were first certified in Wellpoint Care’s trauma-informed framework in 2016, and have led more than 25 trainings in Northeast Wisconsin since.
The results speak for themselves: Family Services’ residential program has experienced a significant drop in both physical interventions and police contacts, and staff retention and happiness have both improved.
“When we committed to being a trauma-informed agency, we knew it was going to be a journey, not a destination,” says Koss. “We’ve stuck with it because it’s vetted, it gets updated and we have the resource of experts, which has felt supportive.”
