Understanding trauma and its impact on a person’s current function can provide useful insight for many of us who work with people under stress or in crisis. It is perhaps most useful in law enforcement.

Many who come in contact with law enforcement have complex needs from unresolved trauma that aren’t being met. By working from the same trauma-informed playbook, child welfare agencies, early childhood development programs, K-12 schools, law enforcement and criminal justice systems can come together and intervene before it’s too late.

Our purpose is to help train other professionals so they can go out and help people overcome barriers. It may be the only way to prevent future adversity and related behaviors.
