Opening Doors: Creating Housing Opportunities for Young Adults

At Wellpoint Care Network, we work every day with young adults who are building independent lives. Time and again, we see that stable housing is the foundation. It’s what makes education, employment, and long-term well-being possible. For young people leaving foster care and other systems of support, it can shape everything that follows.

That’s why we brought together more than 60 area leaders this spring — alongside those with firsthand, lived experience — for an event called Opening Doors: Housing Stability for Young Adults.

Together, they confronted a hard question: why is stable housing so difficult to reach for young adults in Milwaukee?

What we heard pointed to five clear priorities. It also pointed to solutions within reach:
