Wellpoint Care Network to Serve as Co-Host Site for 2023 Rising Tide Conference
MILWAUKEE — Wellpoint Care Network, a community-facing human services organization in Milwaukee, will serve as a co-host site for the 2023 Rising Tide Conference, taking place October 6 and 7, 2023.
Doors open at 8 a.m. on both days, with workshops being held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendance is being offered both virtually and in-person. Tickets can be purchased at www.risingtideconference.com.
“The conference is not just for counselors and social workers,” says Michael Remole, founder of Rising Tide and Gateway Family Services of Illinois. “We have taken our focus from JFK’s quote of, ‘A rising tide raises all ships.’ It is our goal with this conference that — no matter if you are a mental health professional, business owner, a student or administrator, parent or grandparent, caseworker or supervisor — you will be equipped, inspired and motivated to make a positive impact in your sphere of influence. Mental health impacts all of us from our homes, places of work and our communities.”
“This conference will help our community with strategies for breaking the cycles of addiction, abuse and neglect,” said Ann Leinfelder Grove, President and CEO of Wellpoint Care Network. “Somebody who chooses to participate will learn a lot about the neurobiology of trauma. We’ll talk about ways to support our schools and help students be successful in the classroom, how to support parents and caregivers as they address those tricky behaviors, as well as ways to improve safety and well-being of our community.”
Rising Tide features six keynote speakers: New York Times bestselling author and Principal at the Neurosequential Network Dr. Bruce D. Perry, Polyvagal Institute’s Dr. Stephen Porges, Think:Kids Founder and Director Dr. J Stuart Ablon, CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America Dr. Melissa Merrick, California Teacher of the Year Alex Kajitani, and 2016 World Series MVP Ben Zobrist.
On Saturday, October 7, attendees will enjoy over 20 breakout presentations from industry experts from around the world, as they address crucial topics such as implicit bias, equity, addressing challenging and tricky behaviors, and learning how to navigate the impact of trauma. Breakout presentations will also include creative strategies such as trauma-focused equine assisted psychotherapy, canine assisted therapy and Occupational Therapy.
Wellpoint Care President and CEO Ann Leinfelder Grove and Senior Director of Trauma Informed Strategy and Practice Tim Grove will present on ‘Translating Trauma-Informed Practice Through the Lens of Community and Place’ from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
The Rising Tide conference has multiple in-person co-host sites from around the world, including Danville, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Boys Ranch, Texas, Beirut, Lebanon, and Ballarat, Australia! All full-conference attendees will have virtual access to the recorded presentations until December 31, 2023.
“We are facing a mental health crisis,” added Leinfelder Grove. “In order to navigate this crisis, we must come together. We need each other and we must have a united approach. Rising Tide is the start of that united approach.”
Ben Zobrist will conclude the conference with his keynote presentation.
“We wanted to include the community with this event,” added Remole. “Zobrist’s message will speak to all of us about how we manage our own mental health. We really believe hearing his story will be very impactful, especially for our young athletes.”
Those who participate will be able to earn up to 30 CEs/CPDU’s, offered through the Continuing Education Institute of Illinois.
