Green Infrastructure Project Still on Track for October Completion
The Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) project on Wellpoint Care Network’s campus is making great strides, with completion still on track and expected in October 2024.
During the fourth month of construction, crews:
- Completed the earthwork of the green infrastructure (GI) features, including the constructed wetland, biobasin and bioswales
- Set up erosion control around the GI features
- Installed the storm sewers to connect the GI features to the city storm sewer
- Started landscaping and seeding
The earthwork (dirt moving) is on track to be completed by the end of August. Landscaping is on track to be completed by early October.
Ducks have even started enjoying the constructed wetland.
Wellpoint Care Network thanks our community for the continued support of this project.
ABOUT THE GSI PROJECT
The Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) project is a collaborative effort between Wellpoint Care Network and the Fresh Coast Protection Partnership, a Community-Based Partnership between Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) and Corvias Infrastructure Solutions (CIS).
The GSI project is part of a larger multi-year effort to transform Wellpoint Care’s historic campus into a place where families, neighbors and community partners will find trauma-informed social services, mental health resources and a place to connect, collaborate and care for themselves and one another.
Once complete, the GSI project is designed to capture at least one million gallons of stormwater and includes constructed wetlands, bioswales and native landscaping.
