Wellpoint Care Network to Host 4th Annual Diaper Drive for Dads
MILWAUKEE — As Wellpoint Care Network wraps up its 175th anniversary year, the Milwaukee organization is setting out to help 175 local dads with 100 diapers each. Through its 4th annual ‘Diapers for Dads’ drive, Wellpoint Care Network is partnering with Milwaukee Diaper Mission to collect and distribute 17,500 diapers.
“Sometimes showing up for a family starts with something as simple as a package of diapers,” said Reggie Newson, Wellpoint Care Network President & CEO. “But it doesn’t stop there. Diapers for Dads is about recognizing the important role fathers play in their children’s lives and reminding them that they have a community that cares.”
Wellpoint Care Network will be collecting diapers and wipes throughout the month of November at our campus, 8901 W. Capitol Dr. Monetary donations are also welcome. Please note that collection will take place during business hours only.
All donations are appreciated and will then be distributed to Milwaukee area dads at an event at Wellpoint Care Network on Thursday, December 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Our goal is to help these fathers not only with diapers, but also with additional resources and support,” said Andrew Bonner, Community Partnerships and Volunteer Coordinator at Wellpoint Care Network. “We will have agencies on-site to help fathers find jobs, help with child support questions, advice on legal situations, and much more.”
At Wellpoint Care Network, our goal is always to help individuals reach the Five Pillars of Stability — Employment, Education, Housing, Health, and Caring Connections.
This year, we’re also collecting new, unwrapped holiday gifts through our Wrapped with Care campaign, running November 1 through December 4. Gifts will be distributed to families at our Diapers for Dads event, as well as to children in foster care. Donations can be dropped off at Wellpoint Care Network’s campus.
