Wellpoint Care Network to Host Diaper Drive for Dads
MILWAUKEE — Wellpoint Care Network, a community-facing human services organization based in Milwaukee, has partnered with the Milwaukee Diaper Mission to host ‘Diapers for Dads.’
Diapers will be collected throughout the month of November (November 1 to November 30) at the following locations across Milwaukee:
Wellpoint Care Network’s Social Hall (8901 W. Capitol Dr.)
Sherman Phoenix Marketplace (3536 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.)
HoneyBee Sage Wellness & Apothecary (1819 N Doctor M.L.K. Jr Dr.)
Gee’s Clippers (2200 N Doctor M.L.K. Jr Dr.)
Please note that collection will take place during business hours only.
“One of the goals is to give 100 diapers to 100 dads,” said Andrew Bonner, Community Engagement Coordinator at Wellpoint Care Network. “The purpose is to let dads know that they’re supported, because there aren’t a lot of resources provided for them.”
All donations are appreciated and will be distributed to Milwaukee area dads at an event at Wellpoint Care Network on December 15.
“We are going to be giving dads wipes and diapers, of course,” said Bonner. “But we’re also going to have employment resources available and various men’s groups as well. We’re going to have child support liaisons onsite and we’re hoping to get some felony expungement agencies there too. The overall view is, yes, we’re giving away the diapers, but we also want to provide them with resources to help them maintain a good job and to support their journey as they remove any barriers preventing them from excelling to the best of their abilities.”
