Wellpoint Care Network Chief Clinical Officer Nancy Reed Appointed to Milwaukee County Mental Health Board

MILWAUKEE, WIS. — Wellpoint Care Network, a community-facing human services organization based in Milwaukee, is honored to announce that Nancy Reed, Chief Clinical Officer, has been appointed to serve on the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board.

The purpose of the Board is to provide governance, oversight, and strategic guidance for Milwaukee County’s public mental health system.

After a recommendation and extensive review process, Reed’s appointment was made official on Thursday, June 18, 2026, by Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley’s office.

“This appointment is an opportunity to help strengthen the behavioral health system that serves our community,” said Reed. “I will also be serving on the finance committee. Strong financial stewardship is essential to sustaining services and maximizing the impact of every dollar invested. My goal is to support thoughtful decision-making that helps ensure resources are directed where they can make the greatest difference for children, families, and individuals across Milwaukee County.”

“Nancy’s appointment to the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board is well deserved and speaks to the respect she has earned as a behavioral health leader in our community,” added Reggie Newson, Wellpoint Care Network President and CEO. “At a time when mental health needs continue to grow, her voice, experience and commitment to strengthening systems of care will help advance meaningful solutions for Milwaukee County residents. We are incredibly proud of Nancy and grateful for her continued leadership both at Wellpoint Care Network and throughout our community.”

A Milwaukee native, Reed brings 30+ years of healthcare experience, including experience in both mental health and child welfare.

“I feel very honored and grateful that I’ve been appointed to join this Board because I now get to contribute to very important work across the county,” added Reed. “I grew up on the southside of Milwaukee, and I witnessed firsthand the challenges within our behavioral health system. I have family members with special needs and I saw my mom being treated unfairly because she was Spanish-speaking only. She was often put on a wait list because there weren’t enough Spanish-speaking providers. It’s why I am so passionate about ensuring that individuals and families receive the care and support they need, especially those who are too often overlooked.”

Reed joined Wellpoint Care Network in 2024. She is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and has an MBA from Marquette University.
