Become a Respite Caregiver
We know the licensing process can be intimidating at first — especially the time commitment involved. That’s why we’re excited to tell you about Respite Caregiver Certification: a great new way for potential foster parents to gain experience in fostering without making a full-time commitment.
Fostering a child in need is rewarding work — but it can be difficult. Whenever our licensed foster parents need some downtime to refresh their capacity, those with Respite Caregiver Certification step in to provide temporary, short-term care for the children in their own home.
Who Qualifies to Become a Respite Caregiver?
We are currently seeking Respite-Only providers with flexible, open availability to help with a wide age range of children. To qualify as a Respite Caregiver, you must:

- Be at least 18 years old
- Complete required paperwork
- Submit and pass a background check
- Complete all pre-placement training
- Have adequate space in your home (identified sleeping area for the child or children)
- Complete a home assessment with a Wellpoint Care Network Specialist, including a home walk-through and discussion with all household members
